Marzipan : Food for thought : Welcome 2009

Hi everyone, Its been a long time since ive posted anything :)

Firstly a Happy new and Niu year to everyone! I hope 2009 will bring an even better year than Awesome2008 for dance.

Lots of year end 08 events that happened which totally rocked. All the major dance recitals and productions really brought a nice end to the year. Congrats to everyone, it was all :):)

And to kick start this year, was Funkamania XIV! Congrats to all teams who made it to finals and to Pink Dollar for winning it. Amazing performance!

Funkamania this year was pretty different in a sense that not only the rules were modified, the scale was different. Although it was nice to see that this year was on a grander scale, due to its late timing (starting at 10pm and ending close to midnight!), many supporters couldn't come; As well as under 18ers. Being a tertiary event, this shouldnt really be happenin but yeah...shit happens i guess. Youtube youtube. And the rules involved a dance battle for the top 2 (what!!) Yeah weird right? Those 2 should never mix in my opinion. 

I hope the upcoming dance competitions in 2009 will bring more street credit to the dancers as well as to the events themselves. Its time for real STREET DANCE competitions to come out. Commercial viability can always be done for other competitions. Let there be REAL street competitions. No gimmicks. Just pure dance. We need this in 2009 :)
